The Girl On the Boardwalk

~Echoes of Yesterday~ Walking on the Boardwalk on a hot, steamy, summer day. In a two piece rose bathing suit,twas decades ago! I was only seven and seeing the Atlantic, for the very first time. I loved the waves, oh ! I bought a dear bracelet that I still own. With silver circular disks and sailboats in each glistening so! The salt water taffy was like manna from heaven. To this French-braided young girl, only of seven. Nobody dressed as oddballs or freaks I see today! Not one person, a walking crayon nor a billboard proudly,displaying a shirt with hate. Kindness ,good manners, respect were forever in play. And, tragically, I can't say the same for today. So forgive me, if I truly don't understand this God hating, negative, lost world. My mind hungers for the once present sanity, the love, the humanity and the lost sweetness. Of a salt water taffy world. June 30,2019 Noon PST

This is well-built; a great read. It would make a sweet short story. "The salt water taffy was like manna from heaven. To this French-braided young girl, only of seven." grabbed me, for I think the first time I tasted salt water taffy was on the boardwalk.

Panagiota, R' David Fohrman says "Remember! But make the outcome different!" He's with Aleph Beta Institute, they have videos on the Torah reading of the week, recommended viewing. Gordon! It's almost too ugly to go anywhere for me. The rudeness and abject coldness of humans in love with cell phones and dressing like hobos is beyond me. A high tech world with no Gid and no emotions. People can't even talk to each other. Very sad..Panagiota. What I have seen on children's TV is deplorable. Blessings, Panagiota

There have been so many changes to encourage violence. Like movies and T.V. programs, Youtube and music that is in 440 MHz. instead of the organic 432 MHz. There is research on this, one link is: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=440+mhz.+vs+432+mhz.&view=detail&mid=312B73D65E6C42E0D9CD312B73D65E6C42E0D9CD&FORM=VIRE It is very interesting. Listening to 440 MHz over time may be what is causing so much road rage. A time where the people actually spoke to each other not thru text. Brilliant! xxo

Connie, thank you for the URL. And of course, I agree in terms of violence. I mention the news media in more than one of my Poems. Station L.I.E. ....the amount of hatred riles people up immenselly. We must shield eyes, and ears. Texting may be popular but a a way to disconnect from each other and God. That opens the door for Satan. Yes, speaking is the only real connection for me. Thank you. There is no reason to put up or be punished by a godless world. Panagiota.

Indeed, we do, John. We forget that we had living examples, parents or relatives or churches, who taught us what it means to be human. Not anymore? No! Why not! The Internet is a worldwide tool for passing on values instead of folding into an anything goes mindset. Through poetry, groups and avoiding negative folks. Oops, acknowledging GOD, Sabbath. And prayer..a must. Panagiota

Kim, of Golden Heart! Those two steps are a great Beginning... Panagiota.. Service to others instead of demanding service from others is needed. The unhappiest people I know do Nothing to contribute to a better world, it's a worldwide epidemic of "GIMME".

I take it as more than just reminiscing. Kids today are being cheated enormously of growing up in a human world' And adults think nothing of it. You are correct, the contrast is there but far more debilitating to us all. Thank you. Panagiota
