The Gifts of Love
It came to me when joy was nonexistent
And happiness seemed so far and distant
Brought me to my feet when I couldn't stand
Reached out to me when I needed a helping hand
Sang lullabies when my eyes couldn't rest
Rekindled the dark cave inside my chest
Opened doors when my hands were full
Helped me to my destination when I needed a pull
Fed me when emptiness was in my soul
Completed me when I wasn't whole
Quenched my thirst when I yearned for water
Gave me my reason for desiring a daughter
Warmed my body when the cool night air came
Honored me when I felt a shame
Received with open arms when I wanted to give
But most importantly it gave me a reason to live
