The Gift of Time
I don’t have lots of money,
So I can’t make big donations,
I don’t have lots of languages,
To give to other nations.
I don’t have big ambitions,
That I want to give away,
I don’t have strong opinions,
For other folk to sway.
I don’t have skills at cookery,
To give in recipes,
I don’t give out instructions,
Cos I always do say please.
But what I’ve gots more precious,
That’s the theme here of my rhyme,
For those who need to talk things through,
What I can give’s my time.
I will not be judgemental,
I won’t tell you what to do,
But if you need a sounding board,
Then I’m your avenue.
I’ll listen, won’t be silent,
But the actions chosen, yours,
A giver of some precious time,
Cos you’re a worthy cause!
