The Garden Flower
My mama loved her roses
She grew them every spring
I'd watch her in her garden
Admiring the smile they'd bring
She used to rest on sunday
For that's what the good book tells
But when monday came, away she went
Reveling in their fragrant smells
They were mama's prized possession
She carried them in her heart
Her garden became her second home
For they were never far apart
She loved those april showers
She said they made her roses grow
When the sunshine came, she'd say the same
It gives them their radiant glow
My mama passed away one night
In the middle of an april shower
I miss her now, as spring rolls in
The most beautiful garden flower
