The Gambler

Darling, my love for you will never die--
Just then, two shots rang out
      She heard him cry

O! she groaned. Please don't go yet
He smiled, then went ~ but won the bet

He won the bet, as she said please don't go yet, he won the bet as her love for him did die, she heard him cry after two shots rang out, and then he went. 'Yet' is the time-frame and does not indicate 'never' meaning eternity. Had to think hard on this one. Well penned! Hugs and blessings Jennifer.
