The Further Words I Write

You may take an interest
In the further words I write
Because no one is as important
As you are in my life.

You showed me a friend
Is one who stands by thick and thin
And by being one to me
I do certainly win.

Once when I thought I was right
And you knew I was wrong
You did not shun me like most
You made me feel I belonged.

When they said I had lied
And you believed my words were true
You then confronted them all
And you made them all fools.

You were always there
To stand by my side
And there to touch my last tear
When I had finally cried.

And when I thought I was not loved
You lived I love you
So I will end these final words
With, "Friend I love you too!"

Now this is how a best friend should be. I really adore this poem you've penned. I have a sister named Brenda and use to have an Auntie named Elizabeth. Beautiful name for a beautiful poet.... Yvonne
