The Funeral On Tv

The congregants were distanced, Wearing masks, as well they should, While hearing of the man who always Knew just where he stood. Three Presidents paid tribute, Quite an honor to receive And the Speaker of the House as well, So many there to grieve. Though thousands lined the streets and went To see him lie in state, To most, the TV coverage Was what they did await. John Lewis spent his life in battle, All for civil rights, Obama’s speech reminding us To not give up those fights.

In australia id never heard of this man, however, this funeral, like this poem, pushed him front and center deservedly, nice writing.

It is sad to think how many great men have passed. I was glad to see Mr Lewis given this masterful send off.

A hero is aptly honored. To think of all the beatings, insults, and jailings he and many others endured for justice. It gives one pause, and inspires the soul. Thank you for this tribute ~ John

Well done, Ilene. Incidentally, our infection rate doubled this week, which is not surprising as I witnessed on my walk this morning a funeral congregation, more than half of them not wearing a mask. Between IOM and Viet Nam, what will it take before people face reality? Aloha! Rico
