The Funeral
I appreciate you coming, don't be sad,
I'm in a better place now, so be glad.
What you are looking at is an empty shell,
and you are wondering if my soul is in Heaven or in hell.
As you ponder my eternal fate,
I'm looking down from the pearly gates.
People are saying they did a good job, I look good,
Be reassuring, give hugs, it's understood.
That funerals are for the living not the dead,
It's human nature to fear this bed.
But we all have that appointed date,
To face our eternal fate.
So prepare yourself to meet your maker,
Before you visit the undertaker.
And another thing must be said,
Tell your family you love them before you are dead.
It is ok to think before this is through,
That your are glad it's me in this box, not you.
It is as if I'm talking from beyond the grave,
For I have refused to become death's slave.
And without a doubt, there is life after death,
If you choose Jesus before your last breath.
