P.S. Awtry Poet Rhyme

The Fool Again

she writes their names upon a page
in scrolling curling colored inks
with no fearful thoughts to assuage
of his soft kiss she dreams and thinks

his thoughts are of another’s lips
and he's prepared to break a heart
new passion has the first eclipsed
in the short time they've been apart 

one day they will with others stand
secured by years and golden bands
he will wonder what might have been
but she’ll not play the fool again
