The Food Bank Store

There's been bedlam down at the food bank store Rushing and shoving through the opened door I've even seen fighting there on the floor. What's happening to people, can’t they share? When it appears there's hunger everywhere All we need is some love, kindness and care.
* * * Again I'm going to the food bank store For my little girl Daisy Loo, who's four Always hungry and it hurts to the core. Life has not been cushy since her dad strayed I wouldn't have him back if on knees he prayed By him and my best friend I was betrayed. She is welcome to him he's nought but trash Having a love affair behind my back Without care for me or our little lass. Though it's tough to manage without one's man I work every day to earn all I can I clean houses while Daisy Loo’s with nan. Can't believe her dad just up sticks and went Not much is left after paying the rent To feed my daughter when all has been spent. As for the hubby, he's past history Food bank store manager's coming to tea He's fond of Daisy Loo and fond of me. Tonight chefs special will be beans on toast And I’m going to be the perfect host Believe me I almost gave up the ghost. Food bank store team and all donators too Thank you most kindly and God bless all you Much love from me and my girl Daisy Loo.

Hi Lindsay, help is there for the needy, that’s a good thing, but it really shouldn’t be happening in the world these days, no one should be going hungry it’s so sad. Thank you… Belle

Hi Evelyn, it’s a sad thing when folk have to rely on food banks, but there’s always hope that things will change first the better. Thank you for your encouraging review, most grateful… Belle

Ahh! It has been some really hard times since 2019 when all this tohubohu started because of the virus. People who had worked no longer had jobs and I don't see how they survived. On TV in our state I saw where farmers had to harrow under crops because they could not get them out of the field. They did not have the help, truckers weren't working, and the food chain had been shifted from the restaurant to people having to cook at home. Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for the visit to my blog. SK

Golly, hope you win Ist place, this is well penned. In the USA, many sitting on their backsides, refusing to work.jobs are plentiful! People_ a new breed. Food banks are great.it gives us a chance to contribute to those having a rough time. Nobody has Kwashikor here nor are they covered with flies. Many organizations in the USA, work here and worldwide. That’s a plus. I am FAVING this. Story and heart interwoven into one! Panagiota

Hi Panagiota, I’ve not heard of anyone having Kwashikor here in England and hope I never do. There are lots of food banks set up here to cater for people in need. We have the same problems with some who are capable of working - shirking, a worldwide problem. Thank you so much, I appreciate you reading and commenting so generously. Belle

Great poem Belle, It is a shame that people in this day and era still experience starvation. Homeless shelters and food banks are positive things to alleviate this issue. Best for a win, Belle

WoW! Belle, It is so sad that there is still much hunger in the world; food banks are a blessing. The fact that folk treats others needing help as “ unkind” lack “food” of another kind. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great day:-) Alexis

Hi Alexis, food banks are a blessing to those in need and donate myself via our local church. “There for the grace of God go I” comes to mind, no one knows what the future holds. “Those who share are those who care.” Belle :-)

Sad that in this society food banks are essential to many. Sign of the times I suppose. Tom PS, I love beans on toast, with a shot of Worcester sauce.

It’s really sad some folk have to rely on food banks Tom, but one of life’s realities. I love beans on toast too and they’re a good source of protein. Thank you… Belle
