The Following
If Narcissus was around these days
Thank God that he is not
He would be very pleased to see
The following he’s got
Imagine him on Instagram
Or on Twitter, let’s assume
Do you perceive the immensity
Of the throng he’d have to groom?
He’d teach them about self-interest
Their ego they’d adore
And what they want and what they need
They’d push that to the fore
Apologizing they would know not
Respect, nonexistent too
And dare not give them what they want
Good luck I’d wish to you
They’d prey on your emotions
They’d make your life a hell
You wouldn’t know that from the start
Most often you couldn’t tell
Still, this is the breed of nowadays
The egomaniac
Who goes against them, you’ll see
They’ll push your life off track
I’ve also noticed, and with fear
That the narcissist now thrives
Lord help us, give us lots of strength
Or just simply save our lives.
