The Flower Vase

Just now the sky put
A bouquet of crimson clouds
In your flower vase

And lo how the vase
Explodes in some millions of
Purple molecules

In the swimming pool
Children splashing wild water
Your vase in laughter

You and I pass on
But the bouquet in the vase
Is ever crimson

There is a very good-natured, well-rounded sense to this poem. It moves fast - right away there is the sky's action and an immediate explosion, children, and mortality. In with the colors is the essence of a good man, writing.
