The Flame of Light

Darkness covered all over everywhere
there seemed to be nothing but dark
one's hands could feel the lack of light
all the darkness had really left its mark

In a corner, I came across a little candle
struck a match to switch on a light
all of a sudden a flame did appear
making all around so very bright

Here you have a picture of life
the flame is humanity truly living
for God brought here this flame of life
this blessing comes down from heaven

But looking on at this golden flame
it's one single flame shining bright
the God of creation in a moment will
blow that flame out of sight

Everyone represents that flame
one day each flame will blow out
when your life will be no more
be sure to make your flame count

(Some thoughts when having a power cut this week on our lives as a little candle )

How true Gordon, If we don't we will have to beware - so therefore we must always be prepared to keep that flame burning - interesting maybe is that in the Greek Orthodox religion we have a small jug like container and should have a candle burning everyday, which i must say i slip up with sometimes, but feel so whole when it is burning! Poetry hugs, Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer, Glad you liked it and that's interesting about the Greek Orthodox church having candlelight all day. is the Greek Orthodox church strong in SA? Blessings and hugs, Gordon
