It is the flame of faith full bright
That guides men to the rightful path,
Clears away the darkness of night
And trims down their pride and their wrath
It is the flame of faith full bright
That brightens the dark days of life,
Sharpens our weak and ailing sight
And does soften our daily strife.
It is the flame of faith full bright
That does restore warmth during
The gloom of wanton wintry nights,
To souls ailing and suffering.
It is the flame of faith full bright
That drives away dark delusions,
To the soul confers true delight
And clears the haze of illusions,
It is the flame of faith full bright
That vests lasting peace in the mind
Illumines human life with light
And steers men happiness to find.
Such a flame stems from the sacred lamp
And draws its fuel from the sky,
And bears marks of the divine stamp
From the Almighty Lord up high.
Let it for ever just shine bright
From the very depth of our heart
Until from life we do depart
To melt in His immensity
With faith in His eternity,
Where prevails His eternal Light
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands,” - Timothy 1:6
