The First Girl That I Ever Loved

The first girl that I ever loved,
I can't recall when we met,
but I'm sure it was in a hospital,
with tears of joy and hours of sweat.

The chord it may be cut,
but the button remains,
now 31 years later,
she's still my everything.

I hold you in my heart,
as sure as I hold this pen in my hand,
I hope this a poem,
that you can understand.
