Notes About The Poem

The first day of winter and the happenings of the season

The First Day of Winter

The First Day of winter
By Franklin Price
12/21/2016

The first day of winter
The sun moved to the south
The freezing cold on metal
Sticks to the tongue within your mouth

The light of day is shortest
As the sun is turning 'round
In many of the northern states
The snow is on the ground

Christmas only days away
I believe it's only four
I know the kids are happy
That it isn't any more

Santa and his many elves
Are filling up the sleigh
With toys for all the children
To discover Christmas day

New Year's day is next in line
The year is almost done
Glad I made it once again
That I'm not the only one

I know if you are reading this
That you have made it too
I hope the new year coming
Brings health and happiness to you
