The First Day of Forever

O’er the barrier, and into the last twilight, Then past the point of never, Comes a great surprise for the weary eyes, For this is the first day of forever! O’ past the sun, the moon, and distant stars, There are no more regrets or sorrow, For o’er the barrier, and into the ethereal, Lies the everlasting of tomorrow! The day shall come, perhaps today, Or maybe upon the morrow, But soon time will reach beyond the eye Without the touch of sorrow! O’ the second, the minute, the hour of day, Shall come with, or without, endeavor, And then shall be seen beyond the dream The first day of forever! O’er the divide, and into the dark unknown, Begins the everlasting of tomorrow, Where not a word is said of despair or dread, And none of regret or sorrow! O’ by the ever benevolent hand of God, Who controls the tides that sever, There is a great surprise, as the dawn doth rise, Upon the first day of forever!
