The Amazon jungle is on fire, and because of
Hot, dry weather fueling the flames,
Earth's lungs are burning out of control.
Fires number in the tens of thousands,
Irresponsible officials and beef producers share the blame.
Removing the forest is the ultimate goal of
Exporters of beef, displacing Brazil’s indigenous farmers.
Reacting to this global crisis,
Aid; in the form of money, water bombers, and volunteers would
Give Brazil a fighting chance to extinguish the flames;
Except, their government isn’t allowing outsiders to help
Save what is left of the Amazon jungle, for political reasons.
Our planet’s in peril, every fifth breath of oxygen
Now comes from the Amazon; and when it's gone, what then?
