The Fight Within (Beginning)

Shivers of elastic thunder
Settle in and call the drummer
Pain cleanses every doorway
Going on despite what I say

At the mercy of a rhythm
I’ve got no choice, I have to listen
Wearing down my bleeding ears
There’s only hope and all my fears

Bring on the final blow
And when it strikes I’ll finally know
Will I fall and never answer?
Or will I rise and beat this cancer?

Time to summon all I’ve learned
Into the test of what I’ve earned
Time to walk above my demons
And if they stand I know I’ll see them

I’ve felt the draining thunder
I took its strength and replaced the drummer
The real strength is in deciding
Not to drum but to release the dying
