Premiere Contest WinnerThe Fight For Equality

We can be equal without being the same.
Let's say it out loud, we shall be heard:
Look past my gender, and know my name.

This is not about gaining wealth or fame
Together let's stand, let's spread the word:
We can be equal without being the same.

No more fighting about who is to blame
What matters most, is the pain inferred
Look past my gender, and know my name.

Do not forget how far we came
Forward we march, for the pot has been stirred
We can be equal without being the same.

Who we are is no reason for shame
The lines between male and female are blurred
Look past my gender, and know my name.

We don't need a label, this isn't a game
Inequality still existing is completely absurd
We can be equal without being the same.
Look past my gender, and know my name.

Avery, your poem was simple, well-written, and highlighted a major world problem--inequality. You richly deserved this top spot in my contest. Congratulations!

You should NOT feel so much flattered as very proud of your achievement...for having done such a fantastic job. I am proud of you!!! You're very welcome. You stood head and shoulders above 34 other entries. Keep writing!

Superb, Avery! These days though, gender is equal, at least in metros, as far as I know, more so with financial independence. Still, anomalies may be existing, here and there

The more I learn about the world, the more I find out just how far we have to go. What one may consider an anomaly, another may consider the norm. Life is interesting like that. Thank you for stopping by :-)
