The Family
The Family
They watch you as you watch them
On the walls
Like television
Only you interact
With a script in your hand
Reading along with them
And then your turn comes
They turn to you and say your name
And you say your line
And you feel like a part of something
The family says good job
Then moves on
They don’t ask how your day was
Or how you’re feeling
They just want you to say your line
But you don’t care
Because you have no life
You think this is what a real family is
But you have no clue
You just sit there watching walls
While saying what you’re told to
And you tell me that’s a family
If you think that’s a family
You know nothing
You don’t know a mom
Or a dad
Or what a conversation is for that matter
All you know is just a whole
A unit
All you know is
“The Family”
