The Fall of Neverland

Neverland was a childhood dream,
never to grow up was the marketed theme.

Carousel rides, cotton candy and video games,
swimming pools with slides and a private train.

A seductive fantasy for the world's innocent.
An enchanted kingdom for every "Lost Boy" participant.

Tempted by the promise of a giant supernova.
A God, an Icon, a plastic Jehovah.

He is a king, a majestic Peter Pan,
dominating the charts, dominating the land.

A beloved caregiver, a charitable mentor.
He gives until he can give no more

A good spirit he did have,
but remember every good does have bad.

Never forget the Yin and the Yang,
The dark is always waiting to be untamed.

Nothing can be completely good or completely bad you see?
it is how it is balanced that makes it favorably.

His money and power tipped this scale,
this is how it happened, this is how he fell.

So, let's Dig a little deeper and we will find,
a disease that has been plaguing his restless mind.

A virus that was implanted by his stolen childhood,
laid dormant inside but now is understood.

It takes over him, it has complete control,
no one to tell him to stop, no one to tell him no.

He released all his demons and they finally win.
Free to do to others what was done to him.

Robbed of his adolescence and wanting it back.
Desperate and cunning he planned his attack.

An architecture marvel, magnificent and ambitious.
A magnet for children, sophisticated and malicious.

Crowning it Neverland, the lure for his revenge.
No one could cease or apprehend him.

Using it to steal the children's purity
becoming a bandit that held no warranty.

Neverland is not never after all,
It will be Forever for the victims that were involved.

He made it a new Nightmare,
for all that took the bait.
They grew up confused and haunted,
consumed with grief and hate.

A rather chilling story, sad but true. Nicely written, Becca.
