The Fall

When I gave you my love,
I gave it my all.
When I gave you my heart,
I was afraid of the fall.
Now as the clouds
Pass me by,
Knowing my fate,
I understand why.
The climb I made
Was worth this landing
The thing I neglected
Was Preparing.
When I hit the bottom
Shattered pieces of me
Scattered across,
As far as I could see.
I lay here broken,
Trying to heal.
So truly thankful
That I can feel.
And now here I am,
And there goes my life.
But for what we had,
Baby...I'd fall twice.

Heather, Your ending really had me smiling. It is amazing how the heart can heal after being broken into so many pieces. I enjoyed this amusing write. If it is for the contest, best of luck. Blessings, Connie
