The Essence of Poets:Not For a Contest

Tis not I that shall reveal one poet for promotion
Have mercy on this fledgling for having that notion
Equally, I admire many with awesome devotion

Everyone I've met has been so friendly and kind
Singling out just one? To do that, I'm not inclined
Simply put, Thanks to all those who come to mind
Encouraging me until my poems are more refined
Not one of them shall be overlooked or maligned
Comments made to me are supportively aligned
Each time I sign in, I read their poetry and unwind

Opposed am I, to paying tribute to merely one
For that good reason, I'll drop the names of none

Perhaps you think I'm wrong to think this way
OK, but I won't choose as if they were on a buffet
Enlisting poets to honor one another? I'd say 'yay'
To do it in a fashion in which many are on display
Sorry if this hurts your feelings. I've had my say.

Sometimes I write before I think, but it's always what I feel. Thank you, Mark.

Leaving someone out may seem like a 'small thing,' but the effect snowballs over time, until it casts a cloud over what may have been a once-great relationship. I Hear You loud and clear! Great point, Jenna

There are too many kind hearted poets who have been encouraging to me for me to exclude evern one. Thank you so much for leaving me your kind thoughts, GW.

The issue here Jenna is, your just too popular, fame has its downside, whereas when infamous like me, people would be aghast, if I entered their name in this competition, only kidding I do get the ethos dilemma you describe in this classy poem, cheers David

lol David. I doubt the popularity of a poet plays into my reasoning on this issue. I don't think I've read you, but if I have, forgive me for not remembering, and I'll rectify the issue immediately. I appreciate the kind comments. Thank you.

Hi Jenna... Didn't ever think of it this way... Jealousy - I hope not. That would be so sad. It pains me to imagine. I hope I haven't ever hurt anyone for sure!!! Love to you and God bless you always

You've Written what a lot of poets are thinking Jenna, showing favouritism to one and ignoring the rest is against what's in the good book for a start and leads to jealousy and frustration. You sometimes hear of parents having a favourite child and what physiological damage is that doing to their siblings. Tom

Thank you for understanding why I will not take part in that contest. I like too many PS poets to cause animosity.

Thank you, Jan. I would not choose only one in fear of hurting the feelings of many.
