The Escapists

The night has bobbed away….the stereo blasting
Through the moon roof as the highway markers
Roared by….the night has bobbed away….like
Sinatra’s undercover meetings with the makers
….nobody heard us running as far and as fast
As we could, following the zephyr in the night
Sky….Orion’s Belt, leading us towards the
“daybreakers” waiting for us on the other side
…..the night has bobbed away….trains bearing
Down on us like incantations, squeezing our
Thoughts…..me, dewey and grin….always on
The run, convinced of our capture, but positive
About our escape….just 3-more miles to go
….lights up ahead….on que, dewey goes right,
I go left, and grin, he stays with the ride
….grin, he always stays with the ride

Grins the man…..

Very intriguing tale of three men in flight as they drive through the night. Really like the style you employed here, Jimbo. Quite original and creative! I'm guessing they managed to escape. Cool poem. Love, Carolyn
