The Escape
“The Escape”
Like the hidden thorn attached to the rose you give to a friend
When you least expect the pain you feel or the blood leaving your heart
When a special moment in time that has you smiling and happy
Life finds a way to tear your eyes into rivers and your heart into pieces
Like the song that makes your feet dance the night away only to go home alone
Without that special someone to hold you as you walk in the door
Without the one to love you as you grow old in each other’s arms
Life finds a way to remind you of how the loneliness can overtake even the happiest of thoughts
Nothing good in life seems to ever stay the way you expect it
For some they are blessed with the sweetest life God has to offer
For others, it’s a struggle to even pick up your feet to walk forward daily
For me it’s a roller coaster that leaves me stranded between happy and deeply depressed
Some say there is no rhyme or reason for depression to hang on like the thorn stuck to your shoos
Some say suck it up and be stronger then the demons that live inside your fragile mind
I say if life is so easy I wouldn’t be stuck here with falling tears that seem to never end
If life was so easy I wouldn’t be begging for the escape that ends this endless torture
