The Enemy Within
The Enemy Within
Who wins when the fight is between you and yourself?
How can you tell when it’s over with a trophy on the shelf?
Who gets the medal? Who comes in first?
When all that you’re doing just means that it hurts?
How can you shake hands, call it a draw, and each go their own way
When neither one can leave because both will have to stay?
Go to your corners, come out swinging, each hoping their side wins
All the while they’re knowing to forfeit before it begins.
The Bible says to love your enemies
And I believe that to be true
Even in those crazy times
When your enemy is you.
