The Endless Earth
The heavy footsteps, of mankind, have traced,
on beach and mountain, the sum of history.
Suffering and strife, the fallen have faced,
and with velvet knives, have marked incisively,
their gentile ways. The wondrous traffickings,
the taken high roads, cross the hallowed field.
The great treasures caught, with their golden rings,
the future families, with their harvest yield.
Men traversing on, one more endless mile,
and to each era countless changes bring.
Today a beggar walks, where just a while ago,
upon my breast, there walked a king!
