The Ending of the World
The silence between us
Has drowned out the song of what we were
Before the day
That burned a hole into your heart.
Your voice in the distance
Is fading, I follow as the rain
Rubs out your footprints
And we grow further apart.
The life that we'd chosen,
Was real, was no illusion It's the eye
That's really broken,
Not the picture that it sees.
And one day the truth will
Yet find you, and you will realise
That you were running
The wrong way to set you free.
Though we may have fallen
Heartbroken, I will not breathe a word
This fight is over
I have no voice left to be heard.
Sun breaks the horizon
The mist clears
My last white flag unfurls
A trace of calm
Before the ending of the world
