The End

The end

I know you say I’m being cold
 and playing a coward’s hand,
but one day when you’ve been in love
 I know you’ll understand.
I couldn’t tell you face to face
 or even on the phone,
when you’re around my logic fades,
I’m stronger on my own.
I wish you knew how much it hurts
to tell you that we’re through,
but what hurts more is knowing that
 I won’t be hurting you.
I know you’ve never fooled around
 you’re always by my side
but knowing that there’s no one else
 helps nothing but my pride.
You see, I love you so much now
it hurts each time we touch
so strange, I’ve never loved before
and now I’ve loved too much
But while I know you want me around
you’re not in love you say,
 I can’t wait forever
till the day you think you may.
I know I’ll cry myself to sleep
and ache as each day starts,
that time alone has healed before
 so many broken hearts
So now there’s little left to say
but these last words, so true,
for though you’ll never love me back
I can’t help but love you.

Loved this. The flow was smooth and the poem came full circle. I like that
