The Empty Seat
The empty seat
Every day I had to beg and plea,
For him to take his seat.
He rather preferred to take the broom,
And sweep the room.
No, interest in Maths or English,
For him it was all gibberish.
Creative Arts, makes him smile,
He can draw and perform all day long.
On Monday morning, I got surprised.
He waited for me, took the key,
Today no begs or pleas.
The whole week, no fidgeting.
But very inquisitive.
How, when, he exclaims
Very serious, it made me curious.
On Friday afternoon,
When everybody said goodbye,
He turned and smiled.
On Monday morning,
I received the news,
He went with friends to the beach.
An accident occurred,
And everything went blurry.
His seat stays empty.
