The Empty Nest Syndrome

She, the younger one
Continuously
Chirping and tweeting
The nest
Otherwise sombre
Coming to life
Because of her
With time
Her wings gather strength
Flap and flutter
Now, mother’s pride
The daughter
Almost ready to fly out
But not so easy
Both counter
Bottled emotions
Sobs…not so loud
Nervousness descends
She may be ready to fend
For herself
Chalking out
Her own trajectory
Grown up, independent and free
Separation- too painful
The bond
Too strong a pull
What to do?
The stay behind Mom
Has to face
The empty nest syndrome
