The Empty

THE EMPTY
by Mark Miller © 11/13/2013
Memory's memento play of
Rhymes captor performance
Fleeting feelings denature above
Father's absent surrogate running
Vanity around vacuous wander
While child sinks through ocean
Hole couch left home sick silence
While twilight Zone features Searling
Bleak departure into rabid paranormal
Shaking development of altered persona
Into character model moles depersonal
Reasons torn torture in acid base seduction
Stirred and poised as serpents coil claw
Polarized reverence never reaching adolescence

Heartbreaking, really...So often we read of those who overcame impossible obstacles. But we forget how many simply never had a chance...Thank you for a poem from the heart. Best wishes, Gershon

This one's a sad one and was not going to place it. I was the eldest. Raised the family while mom and dad fought, though I was never a bad kid. Divorce left me completely alienated and alone without anyone to listen to me. So drugs and alcohol became negative distractions to painful existence. If this can help one kid, then all my work is worth more than all the gold on earth.
