I told my friend the sovereign of my love And gave him a sweet potato too I scratched his back and talked to him Of dusty days and circus nights and zoos He lives now in a Sanctuary and is a great king who Humans such as I are honored to give him his baths Surrounded by wives and concubines, and a few zebras too He wanders around his empire along his special paths Elephants are easily sicken by human ills, viruses and flu So I send him treats in remembrance as a friend from afar Hoping as the summer goes by we will be again in touch That I may sit near with him as we watch the evening star

Great tribute to the largest animal of all, the elephant. Well composed.
