The Dying Embers of Love

Let us begin again
From that moment in life
When we first met and
You and I were just strangers;

When our eyes first met
and set our hearts pounding,
When our hands first touched
and set our passions aflame;

When we were unknown
to the cares of the world
And were not bogged down
by its mores or morals,
When our fancy knew no bounds
and the world seemed small;

When a bouquet of wild flowers
was the most precious gift,
When the mere flight of birds
set our imagination soaring;

When we had nowhere to go
and plenty of time to get there,
When we had nothing to say
and plenty to talk about;

Let's take it back to the beginning
When life was but frolic and fun
And the wild fire of love
had just begun!
