The Dot On the Page

THE DOT ON THE PAGE A white piece of paper, so clear and so clean-- But just a small dot in the center was seen. And everyone's focus is on that small dot, So white and so clear now the paper is not. So what should we do with that paper we see? Does only one small dot make it useless to be? Should we throw it away and not put it to use Just because one small dot there has caused such abuse? Can we not still write on its surface so fine A letter, a drawing, a fancy design? No, that paper's not useless, but our focus still stays Upon that small dot that was placed there some way. And failure in life is oft like that small dot So blown from proportion from what it was not. We let all our failures and sins interfere Like that tiny white dot on that paper so clear. We focus on negative, and not on God's grace That can still take our life from its dark, sinful place. To Him every failure's a tiny, small speck, And not what we say when we've made such a wreck. He still can forgive and write on that sheet A story of victory and cleansing complete. We tend to take failures and sins from the past And make them such large dots, they frustrate so fast. But God has a way with such dots to design A pattern so useful that soon we will find A new piece of paper, once having one mark, Now priceless, without what once made it that dark. I'll give Him that page with that one dot and see What marvelous things that He will do for me.
