The Dot and the Line

THE DOT AND THE LINE There is a very tiny dot upon an endless line; The endless line’s eternity, the tiny dot is time. And there upon that tiny dot of all man’s toil and strife There is another smaller dot--that smaller dot’s my life. Whate’er I do within that dot, whatever joys or trials, The places I may life or go upon that journey’s miles Are just a speck so small and quick, yet after they are o’er I have another place to go to live forever more. Now if in life I waste my time in selfishness and sin, There won’t be any place for me in heaven to enter in. But if I realize there’s a God who made the way so clear And follow how He said to go to heaven fair and dear, The trials that I may face below in that small speck called life Will be forgotten in that land where there’s no storms or strife. It may not seem now very fair that trials I must endure, But since I am a child of God, there’s one thing that is sure: The speck of life with trials and strife will quickly fade and dim When I am in that heavenly land, abiding safe with Him! And that long line--it just goes on, there is no end to this, This home filled with reunions and a safe, eternal bliss.
