"the Doll"

I got a doll for Christmas when I was eight.
Blonde hair, blue eyes and I named her Kate.

She was my best friend and I loved her so much.
I hugged her so tight when I needed a friendly touch.

They tried to take her away when I was nine.
They couldn't have her I told them she was mine.

I couldn't give her away she was my best friend.
She will be with me until our very end.

We laughed together and we also cried.
As I grew up she stayed by my side.

Sometimes I need my best friend Kate.
Cause she always gets my life straight.

On my dresser is where Kate lives.
To me her love is what she gives.

Can't imagine why anyone would have wanted to take Kate away from you, Teresa. Did they want to give it to charity? It's obvious she meant a lot to you if you still have her. Great entry for Constance's contest, dear. Wishing you success! Love, Carolyn
