The Dog Days Are Over

Everybody tried out
On these hot lazy days
It was a tough long bout
In trying to obey His Ways

For we all got practice uniforms
And made our way to the field
Looking to see who truly conforms
Who will bring the most yield

For soon game time will come
And the new uniforms handed out
But not the case for all, just some
As Jesus' Name my only clout

There, suited up with the game about to begin
For through His Sacred Cup there is no sin
And so, soon game day will be here
But the dog days are over, that much is clear
