The Difference In the Wind

A difference in
the wind
     Which is blowing near
my home
The air is warmer now
and the wicked winter has died
        Buds rising from the ground
        sparrows hop along
near the fountain
     The wind is warmer
now
     Sunlight dancing in the
trees
      where the leaves have just
begun to come forth
     The days are warmer now
Breathe deeply of the
       verdant air
You'll learn what you must
    And if you don't
remember the depths of winter
    You are forgiven
Because they were harsh - very harsh
  and memories can be deadly
and if you want to forget
    no one should blame you

Incredible use of imagery, Matthew, and I like the way you tell us it's okay to forget the harshness of winter. I've always believed in putting the hardships of the past behind us and as you say, "no one should blame" one who chooses to revel in the beauty of a new season! Great poem that goes to my favorites. There is meaning below the surface that gives the reader much to ponder. Love, Carolyn
