The Devils Throne
woke up this morning..found a hole in my back yard Babe.
said ..woke up this morning baby , found a hole in the high trees of my back yard.
Guess the Devil found his way in , leaving nothing but bloody wings on a broken dove.
He came in so shiny and new babe..Armani suit and tie ..high on cocaine,
bloody stained eyes from a fresh kill babe , leaving me lifeless and blue Darling
High on foolish pride..oh Lord he was living large.
why did ya come hunting here Devil ? you know I have nothing left inside.
I said ..Oh Lord why did you come hunting here Devil , I hve nothing left inside.
Took my purse, my guitar , and left me no dignity at all inside.
Can't ya hear me singing lord..leave that man alone
Oh can't ya hear me singing Bonnie Rait babe, my Daddy said , leave that man alone.
he ain't nothing but a thing baby ..sitting high on the Devil's Throne. "
Don't ya take my song baby , or the devil he' s coming for you.
Lord, don't ya take my song and make it yours baby , or that Devil he's coming for you.
leaving you soulless, empty and blue, that Devil..he'll be laughing at you.
