The Devil Moved In Next Door

Bait dangles as prospects lure
Attempts to whittle the façade
The devil moved in next door

Flawless exploits and flashy couture
Your coy routine makes me applaud
Bait dangles as prospects lure

Veiled summons via feral detour
My thoughts tainted, sanity flawed
The devil moved in next door

Confident acts seem insecure
Roguish gazes assail and prod
Bait dangles as prospects lure

True intentions emerge obscure
Glacier-like egos need be thawed
The devil moved in next door

Your ignorance clutches my cure
Maze of games, packed with fraud
Bait dangles as prospects lure
The devil moved in next door

Well done Natalie. I really enjoyed this, do you know my neighbour? Trust me, I'm sure he is the devil. I sent you a soupmail. Take care and thank you again for your poem about me. Love Lee

If the devil made you do it then I'm glad he moved next door...he inspired a funny and biting villanelle... (love those glacier-like egos!) Congratulaions, Natalie! - Tim

Awesome to see you doing a villanelle, Natalie. What inspired it? A contest? Or has a little devil really moved in next door to you? I think those devils are everywhere these days!!
