The Devil

I fought with the devil, his claws sharp and mean, I stared straight into his eyes, saw the murderous gleam, He left wilted flowers, where my love did stand, Swiftly taken from me, I had to witness firsthand. I never thought in my life, I'd have to endure this, He was gripped in the dark wings, with no will left to resist it, "Give in! give in!" the devil cooed and chanted, So I ran away, I cried and i panted. Feeling cold and alone, I thought i might die, So I ran to the one no devil can defy, Light wings held me tight, an embrace meant to last, Good against evil form a striking contrast. Now I feel safe, no longer burning with pain, Yet I'll never get my love back, for the good in him has been slain.
