The Desert

When winter storms depart spring is in a desert's heart Days are long as hills are steep Under the sand memories sleep Look out over nothing but land There's only the sky and the sand The sun lights the burning plains And clouds refuse to send the rains At night restless winds blow And all is still on earth below The stars shine brightly overhead The sun rises and sets above each bed
