The Depth of Death

Emotions swirl the soul, then settle to livid.
They course through earthly veins.
Nostalgic thoughts reform to pain, so vivid.
Choke for air through a swollen, throated lump.
Heart melts despair as it slides to a defeated, broken slump;
lonely, and left behind to feel life’s pains.

The living, continue to seek a perspective that feels brave.
Beseeching the mystery come to an end.
Realization that being emotionally affected comes in waves.
Seek a release that might lead to relief.
Desperately grasping for some kind of belief.
Aggressively forcing mindset to bend.
