The Demon In the Wires
Hot flashes of blue electricity
Burn and dance like sparks from a fire
As the ghost drifts slow through the wires
With a great, charging intensity
Floating through cyberspace, shadows drift
Like children lost in desolate woods
Their faces dissolved, their voices no good
Ev'ry trace of them melts in the mist
Thick and wet, this mist never dissolves
It sits fat and covers our endless sphere
"Drink all your whisky and drink all your beer!"
The ghost giggles, glows blue, and evolves
Swallowing data, swallowing all
Nothing is left, All is devoured
His soul blooms like some virtual flower
And his spirit's laugh is heard through the halls of Hell.
