The Day When I Met You

A sultry day and a
warm cheer parade
Your handshake
was incredulous!
Greetings of "cheese"!
I looked forward
to see you
next day.

I was watching
you afar and
gave you a
mushy smile.
But I couldn't
help to make
things obvious.
I slipped, I fell.
Yet it was never too hard.

A pageant night
for the kings and queens!
You were sitting front row
I saw the look of
a Heartbreak Prince.
My eyes couldn't stop
staring at you close
I was hoping to sit
next to you
so I could blush
like a rose.

There were many nights
I thought about you
sitting in the cafeteria.
If only I had the guts to
speak up and start
a conversation in one
of those endearing
moments,
I think I'll score
and hit the goal.

You were a stranger
who I wished to be "mine".
But I ended up
packing my bags
and left Maguindanao
without saying
goodbye...

Heading home
I brought one moment with me
Your handshake
was incredulous!
Something I cherished.
I am filled with my own "cheese".
