The Day Truth Fell

THE DAY TRUTH FELL IN THE STREET There was an accident today: Truth fell down there in the way. A traffic jam it caused to be; Nothing could move, ‘twas clear to see. Judgment was blocked, and justice, too; No equity could there get through. There lay the truth down in the street And blocking everything to meet. Wickedness devised a plan To give a detour to each man: “Just take whatever road YOU choose, There are so many you can use. Whatever’s right there in your eyes, Whatever deed that you might prize! For truth has fallen in the street, And surely has met its defeat. There are no absolutes today; You’re free to travel your own way. Just call IT truth, and you’ll be fine; It matters not what is GOD’S mind.” But without truth who’s there to say, “You’re traveling in a dangerous way! There’s harm and things you cannot tell, And it will take your straight to hell.” Now you may say that is not true, But what if it WOULD come to you? Are you THAT willing chance to take To go your way and truth forsake? I beg you now this place to go For there is something you should know: That day truth fell down in the street Was for the Savior there to meet, For He fell on the weary way To bear your sin on that dark day. There God’s fair judgment satisfied When Christ the Lord was crucified. And equity you now can see: God’s justice nailed upon the tree. If you will travel this street now And gaze upon Mount Calvary’s brow, By faith receive God’s mercy see, You’ll know the truth, and you’ll be free!
