The Day I Dreamed

I laid my head down and closed my eyes.
Fell asleep and dreamed of butterflies.

Starring out of my eyes of green.
Dreaming of when I was just a teen.

All those beautiful colors for me to see.
Laying there dreaming under a big oak tree.

As I dreamed I ask myself the question why.
Animals talked and fish could fly.

The sweet fragrance of roses was in the air.
I could smell the flowers while the wind blew
             through my hair.

The grass was green and the sky was blue.
I dreamed of the mountains and the ocean too.

Days were short and nights were longer.
In my dreams life was so much stronger.

When I awoke from my dream.
Life was not what it seemed.
