The Day Everything Changed

A normal day at school
turned into a nightmare
No one knew what to say or what to do
As I watched the news
with my two best friends
I knew nothing would
ever be the same.
We all cried, because the pain was so unbearable
We didn't know what to do
or how to help - so we prayed.
I know I am lucky to be here,
and I am also lucky that
all of the people I love are safe.
What happened on September 11th, 2001
changed my life, but it also
opened my eyes.
Everything you do, Lord
has a reason, a purpose
and even though at first
I didn't want to except that,
now I do.
I love you, Lord
and my life is in your hands.
